This Privacy Policy explains what information WordsearchZen.com (“WordsearchZen”, “we”, “us”) and the services we use collect when you visit the site, how that information is used, and the choices you have. WordsearchZen is a free library of printable word search puzzles. You can use every part of it without creating an account or giving us your name or email address.

The short version

• We don’t have user accounts, comments or sign-up forms, and we never ask you for personal details to download a puzzle.
• The site is free because it shows advertising. Our advertising partner and its vendors use cookies and similar technologies to serve and measure ads, including personalised ads where the law allows it.
• We use Google Analytics to count visits and understand which puzzles people use.
• The Word Search Maker runs entirely in your browser. The titles and words you type are not sent to us.
• You can change your ad and cookie choices at any time (see “Your choices” below).

Information we collect

Information you give us

If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you include in your message. We use it only to reply to you and keep a record of the conversation, and we don’t add you to any mailing list.

Information collected automatically

Like almost every website, WordsearchZen and the services it relies on automatically receive some technical information when you visit, such as:

• your IP address and approximate location (city or region, derived from the IP address);
• your browser, device type and operating system;
• the pages and puzzles you view or download, the page that referred you, and the date and time of your visit;
• identifiers stored in cookies or similar technologies (explained in our Cookies Policy).

How we use information

• To run the site: to deliver pages and PDF downloads quickly, keep the site secure and protect it against abuse.
• To understand usage: to see which puzzles and topics are popular so we can make more of what people want.
• To show advertising: advertising pays for the site. Ads may be personalised based on your activity on this and other websites where permitted, and you can opt out (see below).
• To reply to you: when you contact us by email.

We do not sell your personal information for money. Some data sharing with advertising partners may count as a “sale” or “sharing” of personal information under certain US state privacy laws. You can opt out of it as described below.

Services we use

Hosting and security: Cloudflare

The site is hosted and delivered by Cloudflare, which processes technical request data (including IP addresses) to serve pages, cache files and block malicious traffic. Cloudflare may set strictly necessary security cookies. See Cloudflare’s privacy policy.

Analytics: Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics (through the Google tag) to measure visits, pages viewed and downloads. Google Analytics uses cookies and receives your IP address and device information. We use this information only in aggregate, to understand how the site is used. Advertising: Journey by Mediavine

Advertising on WordsearchZen is managed by Journey by Mediavine. Journey and its advertising partners use cookies, web beacons, pixel tags and similar technologies to collect information such as your IP address, device and browser information, approximate location and the pages you visit. They use it to serve, personalise and measure ads and to prevent ad fraud. Their use of this information is governed by their own privacy policies.

Audience features: Grow by Mediavine

Some pages show Grow by Mediavine features, such as saving favourite puzzles or seeing related content. If you choose to use Grow, for example by signing in to save favourites, Grow collects the information it needs to provide that feature under its own privacy policy. Grow may also set cookies to remember your preferences.

Fonts: Google Fonts

The site’s typefaces are loaded from Google Fonts, so your browser connects to Google’s servers and Google receives your IP address. Google states that it does not use this information to profile users. See the Google Fonts privacy FAQ.

Links to other sites

Puzzle cards include links to share a puzzle on Pinterest, and some pages link to other websites. If you follow those links, the other site’s privacy policy applies.

Your choices

• Consent and ad preferences: where required by law (for example in the EU, UK and certain US states), you’ll be asked for your choices through a consent message when you first visit. You can change them at any time with the privacy or consent settings link shown on the site.
• Opt out of interest-based advertising: visit the Network Advertising Initiative opt-out page, the Digital Advertising Alliance opt-out page, or Your Online Choices (EU/UK). You will still see ads, but they will be less tailored to you.
• Cookies: you can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. See our Cookies Policy.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to know what personal information is held about you, to access, correct or delete it, to object to or restrict certain processing, to withdraw consent, and to opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information or of targeted advertising. Because WordsearchZen has no accounts, we usually hold no personal information that identifies you directly, apart from any emails you send us. Data used for advertising and analytics is held by the providers named above, and you can exercise your rights directly with them or by using the controls above. Children

Our puzzles are printed by parents, teachers and puzzle fans of all ages. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or under 16 in some countries). Children should ask a parent, guardian or teacher before contacting us. If you believe a child has given us personal information, email hello@wordsearchzen.com and we will delete it.

How long we keep information

We keep emails only for as long as needed to deal with your enquiry. Analytics data is kept according to our Google Analytics retention settings (no longer than 14 months). Advertising and hosting providers keep data according to their own policies.

International transfers

Our service providers may process information in countries other than your own, including the United States. Where required, they use appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses.

Security

The site is served only over encrypted HTTPS connections and does not store any personal information on its servers. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, but we work to protect the limited information we handle.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time, for example when we change the services we use. We will change the “Last updated” date at the top when we do.
