Two free word searches for a unit on prehistory. The first is about where we came from: the HOMINID family tree, the famous FOSSIL skeleton nicknamed LUCY found in AFRICA, HOMO HABILIS, HOMO ERECTUS, the NEANDERTHAL and DENISOVAN, and HOMO SAPIENS. Words like BIPEDAL, PRIMATE, ANCESTOR, SKULL and EVOLUTION round it out, along with LEAKEY, the family name of several well-known fossil hunters.
The second sheet moves into the PALEOLITHIC, the Old Stone Age, when people lived as HUNTER and GATHERER groups and many moved as a NOMAD would. They shaped FLINT into a HANDAXE, SCRAPER or ARROWHEAD, carried a SPEAR, used BONE, controlled FIRE, built SHELTER, hunted the MAMMOTH and left CAVE PAINTING art like that at LASCAUX in France. The word list is medium and suits students from about 9 up. Answer keys are included. Follow on with the Neolithic Revolution word searches and the fossil word searches.
