Free SEL Word Search Puzzles (Printable PDFs + Answer Keys)

Social-emotional learning (SEL) is usually taught around five core competencies, and the first of these free word searches names them all: SELF AWARENESS, SELF MANAGEMENT, SOCIAL AWARENESS, RELATIONSHIPS and responsible DECISION MAKING. The skills behind them fill the rest of the grid: MOTIVATION, IMPULSE CONTROL, GOAL SETTING, PERSPECTIVE, COOPERATION, PROBLEM SOLVING, ETHICS, knowing your STRENGTHS, respecting DIVERSITY and being RESPONSIBLE.

The second sheet gives names to everyday feelings, such as FRUSTRATED, NERVOUS, LONELY, JEALOUS, EMBARRASSED, PROUD and HOPEFUL, and to what helps friendships work: CARING, TRUST, the courage to APOLOGIZE, CONNECTION, BELONGING and UNDERSTANDING. A good follow-up is to pick one feeling and talk about a time it showed up. Both PDFs include an answer key. The word list runs medium, aimed at students from about 9 up.
