Constitution Day falls on September 17, the anniversary of the day the Constitution was signed in 1787. It is officially Constitution Day and Citizenship Day, so the first of these free puzzles mixes the two: SEPTEMBER and SEVENTEEN, the SIGNING and the ANNIVERSARY, the PARCHMENT kept in the ROTUNDA of the National ARCHIVES, and the NATURALIZATION ceremonies where new citizens take the OATH of ALLEGIANCE. CIVICS and the CLASSROOM are in there too, because schools mark the day with lessons.
For the second sheet, every word comes straight from the Preamble: WE THE PEOPLE, a MORE PERFECT UNION, ESTABLISH JUSTICE, INSURE DOMESTIC TRANQUILITY, the COMMON DEFENSE, PROMOTE the GENERAL WELFARE and the BLESSINGS of LIBERTY for our POSTERITY. Reading the Preamble aloud first makes the hunt quicker. The word list runs medium and suits students from about 9 up; both PDFs come with answer keys.
