The Bill of Rights is the first ten amendments to the US Constitution, ratified in 1791. The first of these two free word searches walks through them in order: SPEECH, RELIGION, PRESS, ASSEMBLY and PETITION from the First Amendment, the MILITIA and the right to BEAR ARMS, no QUARTERING of soldiers, protection from unreasonable SEARCHES, no DOUBLE JEOPARDY, a SPEEDY TRIAL, a CIVIL JURY, fair BAIL, no CRUEL PUNISHMENT and, last of all, the RESERVED POWERS of the Tenth.
The second sheet gathers the vocabulary students meet while studying it: James MADISON, who drafted the amendments, the ANTIFEDERALIST push for written protections, DUE PROCESS, a search WARRANT, the right to COUNSEL, an INDICTMENT, EMINENT DOMAIN and the right to petition over GRIEVANCES. The word list runs medium, so it fits a civics unit from about 10 up, and both PDFs include an answer key. Pair it with the Constitution word search or browse the American history word searches.
